Unfortunately, this is happening all over the United States. Arizona is also suffering quite badly was a loss of artist communities, historic sites and state parks as well. It is a horrible shame that governments have decided that the way to cut costs is to quit protecting the very thing that could conceivably be making them millions in revenue.

State parks all throughout the United States are losing funding and just like any establishment cutting costs, the local governments believe that this is the only way to do it as opposed to cutting their own salaries.

Your article is commendable as well as disturbing, good luck in the cause.

But maybe his decision is right.

<><><>
Ianlee,

I checked your address, and you live in the UK.

It's one thing to sit on the sidelines and make throw-away comments about something you're not invested in. It's quite another when you personally have something to lose.

Say hello to the Queen.

It really seems obvious that the people in charge have a long-term vision to close the parks and then declare that the land needs to be prevented from vandalism, then sell it off to developers. Vision of hotels, condos, oceanfront homes, instead of lowly campsites...get the picture?

I would think this would also be thought of an an industry downfall for RV sites, Fishing stores in California etc. Anything that is related with the outdoors whether summer or Winter. California businesses need to step also and be heard!
