Tijuana: Betcha Wanna
06:38 AM March 07, 2008 4 comments »One of the joys of being a travel writer is discovering new places. Lonely Planet Television recently sent me to Tijuana, Mexico—a place I had never been before—alone with a video camera to record my impressions. The following unscripted short film is the result. Though it’s a diversion from my usual California-centric posts, it provides such a rare glimpse of what I do on the road, and is so uncensored and wacky that I had to share it. Take a look.

Hi John,
Although, I am a native to Northern California and one heck of a tour guide when friends and family come from out of town, I still look forward to your travel newsletter each week, and we have taken MANY of your suggestions of where to stay and eat when traveling.
Since we are Baby Boomers, and “done that been there TJ” thing many years ago, I was curious to see your reactions and listen to your report on this video. Hmmmm, I did not find it outrageously funny, but I am glad that you as a young person decided to go beyond the touristas!! Next time attend a Bullfight!
Thanks

Hi Tina,
You raise a good point. I’ve changed the introductory text. Thanks for acting as my impromptu editor.
It’s great to hear that I’ve helped you make new discoveries. I’m flattered! Stay in touch.
Best,
John

Wonderful!!! Being a travel writer, one can get many ideas and ca be depicted in the books they write. While traveling we watch lots of scenes and sites which would help in writing. The video was really a good one.
